MWC2102 - Explosion of data traffic, consumer experience and Vodafone/Visa’s m-payment solution open the congress

Despite the economy crises, Anne Bouverot, General Director of GSMA, opened the congress emphasizing the growth of the conference. The carrier’s main executives have talked about the data traffic explosion in mobile, the needs of infrastructure improvements and partnerships to enhance the consumer experience. Victorio Colao, Chief Excutive of Vodafone, has announced the Vodafone/Visa partnership for a new mobile payments solution.

Upcoming events in Brazil

During the week of February 6-12, most of the entrepreneurship news in the Brazilian market involved the Campus Party activities. The 5th edition of this event took place in São Paulo and gathered over 7,500 attendees (the “campuseiros”) with hundreds of activities from lectures, panels to a startup reality show promoted by Sebrae and Aceleradora (Like a Boss).

The Incredible Circus on the stage of Mobile Premier Awards (BCN)

In December we were excited to announce the winner of the AppCircus in São Paulo, The Incredible Circus. The great news is that this casual game was selected as one of the 20 best apps among all AppCircus winners worldwide and will be on the stage of the Mobile Premier Awards on February 27, in Barcelona, competing for the best app of the year.

The Windows Phone version of The Incredible Circus is probably going to be launched on the stage. Last week, during the Campus Party Brazil, Julien Fourgeaud (Rovio’s Product Management and Business Development) have tried the beta version and apparently enjoyed the game a lot.

I will be there to check this out!

Eu Consultor wins Startup Weekend Brasilia

Last week I ended up posting about Startup Weekend Brasilia (February, 3-5) only on Pulso Social (you can check the link here). It was real pleasure helped mentoring the teams and I really enjoyed the final results. After 41 elevator pitches,  the event launched 14 new startups in the Brazilian market. I have been talking with some of the startups and the things are apparently evolving very well since the event, including several meetings with potential investors.

Startupi Camp: early bird tickets available!

On February 1, 2012 the first edition of Startupi Camp takes place in São Paulo. Organized by Startupi, it is a 7h program that offers courses, seminars and consultancy for 35 entrepreneurs with some track record, but still looking for mentoring.

The program promises a customized, on demand, and shared experience for the attendees in two parts.
