Campinas Inova 2011

The Unicamp’s Innovation Agency opened the registrations for the Campinas Inova 2011 (Innovate Campinas 2011) event. This session will occur on 15 June, 2011 at Ciesp Campinas and will present a fully renewed format. Using a hands-on approach, the attendees will learn how to build a (tech) business model.

The event is mainly focused on the Campinas’ Metropolitan Area’s professionals and is a project of Ciesp Campinas (Industry Confederation of the São Paulo State, Campinas Chapter) and Fundação Fórum Campinas (Campinas Forum Foundation). CNPq is sponsoring the event.

During the morning, the attendees will be trained in the Business Model Generation Methodology, the same used by the Unicamp Challenge 2011, but adapted to the audience of Campinas Inova 2011: tech businesses and established companies, intending to foment the entrepreneurship among their employees. “The objective is the attendees learn how to structure a business according to nine key aspects: customer segments, customer relationship, distribution channels, value proposition, income sources, key activities, key resources, key partners and cost structure. Based on that, everybody will be able to structure a tech business, which is our focus”, explains Virgílio Marques dos Santos, technical coordinator of Unicamp Challenge 2011 and partner at FM2S, a startups accelerator consultancy.

The second part of the event is about working with the Technological Innovation Centers to exercise the innovative projects generation using the explained methodology. The objective is to build a business model over a technology.

Several technologies will be available on a business desk, all technologies are from the Technological and Scientific Institutions of the São Paulo State, involved in this project through the Unicamp’s Innovation Agency. The seven members of Inova São Paulo (Unicamp, USP, Unesp, UFSCar, Unifesp, DCTA and IPT) will provide at least 3 different technologies each.

According to Roberto Lotufo, director of the Unicamp’s Innovation Agency, the expectations about the event are high: “we are going to promote a pragmatic workshop, aligned with all the recent initiatives of our Innovation Agency to motivate and promote the entrepreneurship”, says Lotufo.

The first edition of Campinas Inova occurred in 2002 and in 2004 the Unicamp’s Innovation Agency assumed the event for two consecutive editions. This is the 5th edition. The event is free of charge but the availability is limited because of the practical activities.
