Startup Weekend Campinas

The first Startup Weekend Campinas will occur on May 13-15, 2011 inside Unicamp. It is a weekend-long, hands-on experience where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if their startup ideas are viable. 

The event starts on Friday with open pitches, when attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday the teams will focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing Lean Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product (MVP). On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts. During this process, the teams will be supported by experienced mentors.

The event started in Seattle in 2009. Nowadays, the events occur in more than 100 cities among 23 countries. More than 500 companies were launched, involving about 27k entrepreneurs. During the same weekend EUA (Charlotte and University of Washington), Portugal (Porto), Japan (Tokyo), France (Toulouse) and Poln (Warsaw) will have their own Startup Weekends.

In Campinas, the event has been organized by Campinas Startups with the support of Inova Unicamp Unicamp, Unicamp Ventures, Inova Venture Participações/Partners (IVP).
