Just filling the gap of the news about the Mobile World Congress, here is an analysis that I have posted for Pulso Social while still in Barcelona.

Yesterday we finally got to know the best apps of the year at the Mobile Premier Awards. The event took place at Teatro Apollo in Barcelona, along the World Mobile Congress and brought the best developers from all over the world.

Despite the economy crises, Anne Bouverot, General Director of GSMA, opened the congress emphasizing the growth of the conference. The carrier’s main executives have talked about the data traffic explosion in mobile, the needs of infrastructure improvements and partnerships to enhance the consumer experience. Victorio Colao, Chief Excutive of Vodafone, has announced the Vodafone/Visa partnership for a new mobile payments solution.

Brazilians get used to say that the year just starts for real after Carnival, which can happen in the beginning of February and sometimes March. During the week of February 6-12, most of the entrepreneurship news in the Brazilian market involved the Campus Party activities. The 5th edition of this event took place in São Paulo and gathered over 7,500 attendees (the “campuseiros”) with hundreds of activities from lectures, panels to a startup reality show promoted by Sebrae and Aceleradora (Like a Boss).
